High School Civics: (high school) Mrs. Shelly reads and discusses a “dry” high school/college level textbook to teach students how to take notes and understand classes presented in this way. The textbook is provided as a printable PDF in the classroom. Mrs. Shelly models note-taking, questioning, and self-guided study.

About the teacher: Mrs. Shelly is a bio-adopt mother to 6 children and grandmother to two. She has homeschooled for over 20 years, has 4 homeschool graduates and two at home. Two of her children graduated with an Associate Degree at the age of 17/18 respectively, another is certified in welding, and yet another is still in college. Mrs. Mabe is an avid advocate for Blue Collar Education and “College at 14” for homeschooling families. Mrs. Mabe facilitates education by reading and DOING the work with the students.
Tuttle Twins: (ages 5-12) Mrs. Shelly reads and discusses books in the Tuttle Twins series following the order listed on the Tuttle Twins website. The Tuttle Twins workbooks are included in the Archives. These books are written from a libertarian viewpoint, but Mrs. Shelly understands political views will vary greatly from one family to another. She reminds students to question what they read. She is adamant that students do not have to believe what is in the books and gives other viewpoints to consider. This class is meant for students to listen to the story, think about what their own values are, and then discuss with their family.

Tuttle Twins High School: (high school) This is a self-guided class with PDF links and videos to the college level books and essays each Tuttle Twins book is based upon. These books and essays are from a libertarian viewpoint.

US History: (ages 8+) Mrs. Shelly reads and discusses What is the US Constitution?, What is the Declaration of Independence?, and What Was the First Thanksgiving? from the WhoHQ series. There is a printable caboodle. She models note-taking, questioning, and self-guided study.

US Presidents: (ages 7+) Mrs. Heck reads and discusses The New Big Book of US Presidents by Running Press and Kid Presidents: True Tales of Childhood from America’s Presidents by David Stabler. She teaches about the presidents in order using these two books. There are notebooking and note-taking printables provided.
September 2019 – May 2020
About the teacher: Dr. (Mrs.) Heck is a mother of 7 children and grandmother of 2. She has homeschooled for over 20 years and has four who have graduated with two still in high school. Of her four graduates, one is a business owner, one is enlisted with the United States Navy, one is completing his Associates degree in engineering, and one is a recent graduate and will be attending a culinary arts program. Dr. Heck has had many different jobs over the years including a US Navy Hospital Corpsman, a train driver/materials handling operator, instructor, cook/chef, and a mystery shopper. She obtained her doctorate degree in education curriculum delivery and design in 2008 and has created numerous online learning modules for corporations as well as for the US Coast Guard. Dr. Heck believes students should guide the curriculum and the learning process rather than the student conforming to the curriculum. Dr. Heck also believes that the information and curriculum should be delivered to the students through various methods, such as visual, auditory, etc. Most of all Dr. Heck believes learning should be fun otherwise the information will never be retained.
